Working Families announce Top 30 most family friendly workplaces
Working Families recently announced their Top 30 most family friendly workplaces within the UK.
The following companies and organisations were highlighted by Working Families as leading the way in building family friendly, flexible workplaces. These employers come from the public, private and third sectors.
A Top 10 status was achieved by the Crown Prosecution Service, joining large blue chip organisations such as Barclays Bank and American Express. For the second year in a row Top 10 Status was awards to the Intellectual Property Office, whose policies include home working, flexible hours and shared parental leave and there are support networks and staff counsellors are also on hand to provide support.
The National Assembly for Wales was the only Parliament to be recognised in the Top 30, where organisations are required to answer in-depth questions over four key areas to build a comprehensive picture of their flexible and family friendly working policies and practices which specifically support parents and carers. These areas are:
- integration to organisational strategy and culture – which looks at culture, attitude and how far flexible and family friendly working practices have become embedded;
- policy – which looks at the creation, development and deployment of flexible and family friendly working policies;
- consistent practice – which considers how well flexible and family-friendly working is supported and
- evidence and statistics – which looks at the effects of flexible and family-friendly working on the organisation, and their ability to understand those effects.
